Sunday, December 16th, 2007Slax, Linux işletim sistemi barındıran küçük bir çalışan CD’ dir. Herhangi bir kuruluma ihtiyaç duymadan CD (veya USB flash bellek) üzerinden direkt olarak çalışır.Sözkonusu çalışan CD, Slackware Linux dağıtımı tabanlıdır.Standart, kill bill ve server sürümleri mevcuttur.Kill bill surumunun standarttan farkı wine programının yüklü olmasıdır böylece bazı windows yazılımlarınıda kullanabilirsiniz.Dosya boyutu standart sürümde 192MB, killbillde 204 MB dir.
Şu haliyle Slax 8cm’lik küçük CD’lere sığması ve cepte taşınması için tasarlanmıştır. 8cm’lik küçük CD’ler en fazla 210MB alabilmektedir. 210MB kayıt yapabilmek için kayıt programında “short lead in / lead out” etkinleştirilmelidir. KDE tabanlı bu küçük ama başarılı dağıtım, CD yazmaktan ofis programlarına kadar birçok ayrıntıyı küçük bir CD’ye sığdırmış; güzel görünümü ve çok hızlı açılması ile Live-CD dağıtımlar arasında en popülerlerinden biri olmuştur.
Slax’i kendinize göre düzenleyip kendi Slax CD’nizi oluşturabilirsiniz. Bunun için CD’ye ikinci bir yazım yaparak dilediğiniz modülleri ekleyebileceğiniz gibi bu iş için özel olarak yapılmış MySlax Creator gibi programları da kullanabilirsiniz.

Slackware Linux tabanlı Slax’in hazırlanmasında Linux Live Scriptleri kullanılmış olup bu scriptler ile başka herhangi bir Linux dağıtımından da Live-CD elde edilebilir.
